All Cheerleaders Die (2014)
A bloody good zombie action pic from Australia and the warmed mind of Lucky McKee (The Woman, May, etc.). Far from flawless but a lot of fun… and not what you’d expect from your normal zombie flick!
Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)
A zombie musical that’s remarkably charming in its own quirky way, complete with a musical comedy small town, insufferably cute high school kids who constantly burst into song… and a swarm of flesh-eating corpses that won’t stay dead. Try it. You just might like it.
Blood Quantum (2019)
The only zombie apocalypse movie we know set inside the First Nations — specifically in the devastated Mi’kmaq reservation that survives because Native Americans seem to be immune to the zombie virus. An overlooked but damn good — and very grim — film.
Cockneys vs Zombie (2012)
There’s no reason this should be so funny, engaging, and even exciting, but it is. There’s a mad exuberance about old folks blasting away at the undead while the hapless younger generation can barely keep up. A truly underrated cult classic.
Even big-time zombie movie fans may have missed this one. Is it a comedy? A satire? A skewed love story? All that and more, and one of the least expected and most watchable of the “dark comedies” to come out of the genre.
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The first, the original, the centerpiece of any collection. Also, believe it or not, worth going back to watch regularly, just to see where it all started. The Blu-Ray includes dailies, new interviews and documentaries and audio commentaries.
